BUILD THAT PARK!

SUPPORTER PROFILE: Robert Vivar

Robert is an core member of Friends of Friendship Park, Border Church Coordinator in Mexico, and Co- Director of Unified U.S. Deported Veterans

I support BUILD THAT PARK! because Friendship Park is the only place on the USA/Mexico border where mixed status families can come together, if only a few hours on weekends, to visit and continue to love and care for each other.

Separated from my family for a few years after deportation, Friendship Park provided the setting for reunification with my military son and precious granddaughters.

It is a priceless sight to see the sparkle in a parents' eyes as they see the child they were separated from decades prior, or a grandparents eyes when they meet their new grandchild for the first time. It may be difficult to know if their tears are of joy - or of sadness, due to the mesh barrier that prevents them from embracing their new treasure.

Friendship Park is our sacred ground because family is a God-given gift, and this spirit of love will never be diminished by the separation caused by these man-made barriers.

Do you envision a more open, interactive, and green Friendship Park? We'd love to hear why, and what it would mean to you - submit your story here.
